RE:FRESH sessions: Discounted swim for adults under the RE:FRESH Leisure Scheme. Anyone aged 16 years or over, who lives, works, has a GP or is in full time education in Blackburn with Darwen can access this session for £1.

Located in the heart of Darwen this leisure centre has an impressive 25 metre eight lane swimming pool, a teaching pool, a main gym , a multi-purpose fitness studio with a wide range of fitness classes, a multi-use sports hall and activity rooms that are available for a range of courses and room hire.
The recently refurbished gym includes an updated layout, state-of-the-art equipment and new flooring.
A large functional training area with a purpose built, freestanding gym rig – which can accommodate functional and suspended body weight training, has also be introduced to the gym area.
Swimming Pool Admission Policy for Children
Children aged under 8 must be accompanied by a responsible adult. An adult is someone who is 16 years or over. Only two children aged 1-8 can be accompany one responsible adult. Children under 1 require one to one supervision, unless it is a specified Parent and Toddler session where you can take in two children per adult.
Children under 8 years must not be left alone on poolside or on the spectator galleries. This includes babies and young children in prams.
Changing Room and Locker Information
The changing room is in a family/communal style – there are no separate male and female areas. This gives flexibility, as it allows parents with children of a different gender, easy changing. There are group changing rooms for schools, which can be sectioned off from the rest of the changing area.
There are large family changing cubicles and all other cubicles are much larger than normal so that each one can fit one adult and one child. There are several baby changing units. There are individual enclosed showers and general shower areas.
All lockers in the centre operate by using £1 coins which are returnable. Keys for the lockers are on a wrist band which you can take with you when you swim. Re-usable locker tokens can be purchased at reception for £1 each.
Disabled Facilities
Darwen Leisure Centre has two assisted changing rooms with a hoist, one in the pool level changing rooms and the other on the first floor.
There are two changing rooms next to the main ground floor dry changing rooms which ensure that a carer of a different gender can help, there are also large lockers for bulky equipment.
A pool hoist and easy access steps are available for both large and small pools.
There are six disabled parking bays just outside the main entrance with level access.
Lift access is available to all floors and pool chairs are available if you need to transfer from your own wheelchair to one suitable for poolside (please ask at reception upon entry), wheelchairs can be left on the pool level at the bottom of the main stairs.
Parking
Darwen Leisure Centre has on site parking and there is ample other car parks and on street parking around the Centre.
Anyone using the facilities can park free on the Centre car park for up to 3 hours. Your car registration needs to be entered into the electronic monitoring system located near reception on each visit.
